LEADERSHIP GIVING

Omni Air International

Each year since 1996, Omni Air International looks forward to fundraising for Tulsa Area United Way. Their model campaign fundraising week includes Mario Kart tournaments, costume contests, raffles, model airplane auctions, and an emphasis on providing employees an opportunity to donate at the leadership level. Those giving at that level attend a breakfast with Omni leadership and get the remainder of the day as vacation. This year, employees donated an astounding 4,100+ pounds of food through the Day of Caring Food Drive with departments competing for the biggest donation. Omni proudly provides their employees with an opportunity to invest in this community and live their values to support numerous nonprofits through United Way.

IGNITE

Owasso Public Schools

Owasso Public Schools knows the importance of their students’ academic, social-emotional, and mental wellbeing. They see the challenges and barriers to learning that students face to succeed. Through TAUW’s nonprofit partners, students and their families receive the support they need – from food and clothing to tutoring. Staff and faculty were excited to be involved for the first time, earning jeans coupons while contributing this year. Owasso Public Schools faculty and staff are willing to do their part to ensure the programs utilized by their students remain available to all who need them.

ILLUMINATE

Family & Children’s Services

Creativity and fun are what drive Family & Children’s Services fundraising campaign year after year. Their campaign kickoff event at a Tulsa Drillers’ game included pledging, raffles and prizes for their entire staff. Because Family & Children’s Services is one of Tulsa Area United Way’s 59 nonprofit partners, they see how funding impacts the community firsthand. They understand the importance of giving back, not only serving their own clients but supporting the clients of other nonprofit collaborative partners as well.

Youth Services of Creek County (YSCC)

YSCC brightened up their campaign and created a stronger culture, using their kickoff as an avenue to come together and have fun. This year, employees brought something in their favorite color to share during a pledge drive meeting. This added interest and color to the day but helped employees get to know one another. On a daily basis, YSCC sees the importance and value of giving through the eyes of their clients. Employees are happy to contribute to ensure that lifesaving work continues in all our communities, addressing needs throughout Green Country.

MOMENTUM

U.S. Pioneer

Great leadership brought U.S. Pioneer employees together every day of their pledge drive to play games like BINGO and "Name that Tune." At their most popular event, staff got to pie the owner while enjoying a tailgate lunch. Many employees, their friends and families have benefited from the services funded by TAUW. U.S. Pioneer knows their donations are important so that these nonprofits can continue their life-saving work.

SMALL BUSINESS

BancFirst Insurance Services

The mighty campaign effort at BancFirst Insurance Services is filled with fun. Engaged leaders and employees created new fundraising traditions, including email BINGO, auctions, and a grand finale costume contest. Many employees share that they have friends and neighbors who have benefited from programs offered by Tulsa Area United Way nonprofit partners. Seeing the results of their contributions firsthand, BancFirst Insurance employees proudly embrace the opportunity to give back to their communities.

MID-SIZE BUSINESS

Explorer Pipeline

Being a good neighbor is a value Explorer Pipeline practices every day. As employee Patrick Nwakoby shared: “In my native language [Nigerian], we say, ‘Onye Chineke mere ihe oma, ya cheta ndi ozo,’ which means, “If the Lord has blessed you, you need to bless others.” Events like trivia, hallway golf, and ‘ducking’ offices kept employees engaged and laughing throughout their fundraising campaign. Through their United Way contributions, Explorer Pipeline strives to bring our communities together to tackle challenges that no one individual can solve alone, with the hope that everyone has a chance to flourish and thrive.

GREEN COUNTRY BUSINESS

PACCAR Winch - Okmulgee

A longstanding tradition for PACCAR companies, the Tulsa Area United Way annual fundraising campaign provides employees an opportunity to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of the communities in northeastern Oklahoma. This past year, employees loved participating in chili cook-off contests, a corn hole tournament, and a parking space auction. One of PACCAR’s values is a commitment to the future; by engaging with the United Way, employees are leaning into a brighter future for everyone.

Williams Summit Leadership

Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P

The employees of Magellan Midstream Partners demonstrate their commitment to advance the common good in their communities year after year. With two golf tournaments, pledging incentives for employees, and a fundraising week with tons of activities, they were able to increase their employee participation by an astonishing 20% this year. Magellan truly lives united by participating in Days of Caring and providing continuous employee involvement in TAUW’s Board of Directors, Community Investments panels, and Campaign Cabinet. Magellan’s culture revolves around working together as one. Called One Magellan, their involvement in TAUW exemplifies this culture, and we are pleased to be part of the One Magellan family.

COMMUNITY SPIRIT

City of Tulsa

The City of Tulsa truly embodied community spirit through their United Way fundraising campaign this year. Departments came together to host raffles, foosball tournaments, bake sales and many other activities. They even sold ‘Thank You Grams’ and delivered them throughout their workforce, brightening spirits for a good cause. With their goal of service, the City of Tulsa employees seized the opportunity to support the nonprofits working to improve lives in our communities. The City of Tulsa and Tulsa Area United Way collaborate on many challenges facing our community, from increasing available housing to connecting those experiencing mental illness with lifesaving resources.

2022 NextGen
Volunteer of the Year Award

Aaron Winfrey

The NextGen Volunteer of the Year Award is given to a NextGen United member who is dedicated to personal and professional leadership development and goes above and beyond to enhance their community impact by engaging in meaningful volunteer opportunities.

Aaron Winfrey is not just an accomplished professional in talent acquisition and human capital management at BOK Financial, but also a dedicated philanthropist with a passion for making a positive impact on his community. His background as a college football coach and recruiter give him a unique set of skills that make Aaron a sought-after leader in his field.

As chair of TAUW’s NextGen United, Aaron is a leader in the affinity group’s efforts to develop the next generation of community leaders and address some of Tulsa’s most pressing issues.

His passion for using his talents to help others is also evident in his volunteer work with Youth at Heart, Tulsa CASA and Reading Partners. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Tulsa CASA, Aaron advocates on behalf of children in the child welfare system, ensuring they have a voice and the support they need. He recently joined their board of directors. Aaron also volunteered as a Reading Partners tutor, helping elementary age students develop their reading and comprehension skills.

Through his volunteer work with TAUW and our nonprofit partners, Aaron is a valued member of our TAUW family making a difference and inspiring others to do the same.

2022 Women United
Clydella Hentschel Award

Karen Keith

Named in honor of the first woman to co-chair the Tulsa Area United Way campaign, the Clydella Hentschel Award recognizes a leader who strives toward the highest levels of personal and professional accomplishment, devotes time and energy to our local community, and inspires other women to reach their full potential.

Karen Keith is serving her 4th term as Tulsa County Commissioner for District 2. Some of the projects she is most proud of include efforts to rebuild the Tulsa/West Tulsa Levee system, the Gilcrease Expressway, and a new building for the OSU Extension on the OSU-Tulsa Campus.

Along with her work in public service, Karen is an active community volunteer. She currently chairs the Tulsa Area United Way Board of Directors and served as the 2021 campaign co-chair. Karen served as the 100thpresident of the Rotary Club of Tulsa and serves on a variety of Boards including the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, Tulsa Boys’ Home Advisory Board, the Will Rogers Memorial Foundation, the OKPOP Foundation and numerous others. She chairs the INCOG Board of Directors and is on the ARVEST Bank Board.

Among her many awards are: the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Tourism Partner of the Year Award 2023, Co-Recipient of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Award 2022 and Tulsa Community College Foundation Vision in Education Leadership 2019. Karen is a great example of the spirit of this award, and we know Clydella was proud to call her friend.
