LEADERSHIP GIVING

Bank of Oklahoma

A Visionary award winner, Bank of Oklahoma (BOK) runs one of the strongest campaigns year after year and routinely ranks in the top percentile of leadership giving throughout the entire United Way family. In 2021, BOK increased their number of leadership givers by more than 10%, with nearly 25% of employees giving at the leadership level and proudly displaying a badge on their employee profile to show how generously they support TAUW. Plus, more BOK employees give at the Tocqueville Society level, donating $10,000 or more annually, than any other company.

ILLUMINATE

Global Gardens

Global Gardens is a Tulsa Area United Way partner agency that empowers low-income students in grades K-8 to become agents of change by creating community gardens. With just 21 staff members, they proved size isn’t an obstacle when it comes to running a model campaign. This nonprofit organization increased donations year over year, including a 300% increase in leadership givers and utilized online giving in 2021 to increase the efficiency of their campaign.

IGNITE

Omni Air Transport

Omni Air Transport displayed great buy-in and support from their owners and company leadership in running their first United Way campaign. Employees achieved an impressive participation rate while setting an aggressive goal that included a company match for pledges. The campaign developed incentives for giving, conducted a fun and informative employee educational meeting, and exceeded all expectations to make their first year a resounding success.

MOMENTUM

Harrison Energy Partners

Harrison Energy Partners displayed a strong commitment to improving people’s lives in the Tulsa area, evidenced by employees who more than doubled their pledges in 2021! This includes both employee pledges and a corporate match. For a second-year campaign, this is an example of the dedication Harrison Energy Partners has to support the needs of our community.

SMALL BUSINESS

Capital Advisors

In 2021, Capital Advisors rallied behind their new Employee Campaign Coordinator’s efforts to increase their giving by an astonishing 158%. Not only did they run a model campaign with an educational session and special events, leadership at this organization provides a one-to-one corporate match for all donations.

Schnake Turnbo Frank

As a long-time supporter, Schnake Turnbo Frank took it up another notch for their 2021 campaign. This small but mighty group had a 19% increase in their participation rate and a 55% increase in their overall campaign! They ran a model campaign to benefit our community, including an online education meeting that featured an agency speaker.

MID-SIZE BUSINESS

Jim Norton Toyota

Jim Norton Toyota again exceeded all expectations for their campaign in 2021. They achieved a 57% increase in leadership giving and a 174% increase in participation. This contributed to an 87% increase overall to what was already the number one campaign in Tulsa Area United Way’s transportation division! Jim Norton Toyota also participates in Day of Caring, hosting one of 17 food drive sites in 2021.

GREEN COUNTRY BUSINESS

OG&E – Sapulpa

OG&E raises funds through employee giving, company gift matching, and special fundraising events such as auctions and bake sales. Their bake sale is the best in the campaign, with goodies from cookies to pumpkin rolls going for hundreds of dollars! OG&E employees volunteer on the Community Investments panel and in Tulsa Area United Way community events, such as Day of Caring.

INNOVATOR

BKD, LLP, GableGotwals, Vast Bank

In a true show of innovation and collaboration, three main tenants of the Vast Bank building in downtown Tulsa came together to hold a series of special events to benefit Tulsa Area United Way, in addition to running their own robust employee campaigns. Each organization hosted a special event for the entire building, including a BBQ luncheon, Oktoberfest, and a silent auction open to the community. Additionally, employees at these organizations serve on Community Investments panels, Campaign Cabinet, and Tulsa Area United Way Board of Directors.

Williams Summit Leadership

QUIKTRIP

For a sixth time, QuikTrip Corporation (QT) has run a Groundbreaker campaign of $2 million or more. Through the generosity of its corporate leadership and over 2,600 employees, QT conducts the largest United Way campaign in Tulsa, and in 2021, QT increased their United Way giving by 8%. In addition, QT continues to be one of the largest participants in Tulsa Area United Way’s Day of Caring. This year, QuikTrip’s talented and compassionate volunteers spent two Days of Caring doing an extreme facility makeover at The Salvation Army North Mabee Boys & Girls Club. The employees repaired, renovated, and transformed the Club’s garden, swimming pool, bathrooms, teen center, facility signage, and more.

COMMUNITY SPIRIT

For this year’s Community Spirit award, we are nominating all healthcare and public school systems that ran United Way campaigns. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, our healthcare workers and school personnel serve our community’s most vulnerable while still giving more of themselves, their time, and their financial resources to help our community through United Way campaigns. Thank you!

2021 Women United Clydella Hentschel Award

Marla Bradshaw

Marla Bradshaw is a committed community volunteer representing the spirit of the Clydella Hentschel Award for Women in Leadership.

Over the years, Marla has demonstrated exceptional leadership and mentoring that has inspired and helped other women to reach their full potential. She devotes time and energy to many United Way agencies, in addition to several organizations outside the United Way umbrella that have a mission of supporting at-risk and underserved individuals.

One of her most significant impacts has been in fundraising. In 2011, Marla co-chaired The Salvation Army’s fundraising dinner with her husband Steve Bradshaw, which raised a then-record $1.25 million with Peyton Manning as the featured speaker. This year, she is working to increase corporate support for Tulsa Cares and its Red Ribbon Gala.

Marla’s contributions to the United Way include co-chairing the Tocqueville Society in 2010 when we launched the “Step-Up” program, bringing a significant amount of new Tocqueville members to the organization. In 2016, she and Steve co-chaired the United Way campaign, raising over $26 million, despite a significant downturn in the energy industry and the resulting lost jobs in that sector. Marla speaks at Women United events, sharing her expertise in community collaboration, relationship building, and networking skills.

Her philanthropic work extends far beyond fundraising and serving on boards. Earlier this year, she volunteered at the Tulsa Health Department’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic for 14 weeks, assisting in efforts to boost vaccination rates in the Tulsa area. Marla has a long history of community service and leadership. She is an extraordinary volunteer who gives tirelessly of her time, talent, and resources to significantly impact our community. She exemplifies the community values and commitment that this award recognizes.
